WHO WE ARE

The Independent School Alliance is the leading access organization in independent school admissions counseling and placement for students in grades K-9. The Independent School Alliance recruits, educates, counsels, and advocates on behalf of families from underrepresented and economically under-resourced communities seeking to gain access to independent schools of Greater Los Angeles.

WHAT WE DO

For over 40  years, the Independent School Alliance has assisted thousands of young people and their families in achieving their dream of a quality education. We stand firmly in the purpose of our mission that education is the antidote for the inequities of the world.

HOW WE DO IT

Our member schools play a vital role in shaping the leaders of our city, state, and nation. Our graduates go on to enroll in some of the most prestigious colleges and universities across the nation. Through our collaborative efforts and shared objectives with community partners nationwide, we are committed to ensuring that the Independent School community the world beyond its walls. Our initiatives are designed to empower Independent School Alliance students with exposure to leadership opportunities and social-emotional development, with the ultimate goal of fostering school communities that not only educate the next generation of leaders but also nurture them to be better human beings.

WHY WE DO IT

As leaders, builders, connectors, and caregivers within the independent school community, we fully embrace our responsibilities. With the skills and experience we’ve gained, we are committed to examining and challenging the policies, practices, and responses within our schools and the broader community to create meaningful, systemic change. We understand that this work begins with personal reflection and growth and must extend to interpersonal, institutional, and structural transformation.

With this mission at our core, the Independent School Alliance remains steadfast in our commitment to diversifying independent schools throughout the Greater Los Angeles area—continuing the work we’ve proudly led for decades and will carry forward for generations to come.

Operating with an annual budget of over $1 million—supported by generous individual donations and the leadership of our Board of Directors and Advisory Council—we are headquartered in Culver City, CA. Above all, we remain deeply dedicated to the extraordinary students and families we serve.
